What is your Goal of Life? Lead a team, travel to your favorite destination, achieve an accomplishment in your career, top an exam, study at a prestigious university, and pursue a hobby? Whatever the goal, it requires some level of thought, planning and execution.
Goals give us a sense of focus and direction. Without them, we would be wandering off target. If you do not have a clear understanding of where you want to go, how will you go there?
Goals that we set properly, write and focus on daily can be achieved quickly and easily. Here are five steps that can help you achieve your goals:
1. Make a commitment to yourself:-
If you want to achieve your goals, you first need to make a commitment by yourself. Look at the current state of your life and set goals that relate to high priorities in your life.
When you set goals for yourself, it is important that they inspire you because motivation is the key to achieving the goal. To ensure that your goal is motivated, write down why it is valuable and important to you.
Set SMART goals:-
In order to focus and create to achieve the goal, they have to take S.M.A.R.T.
- Specific – Goal should be clear and well defined
- Measurable – Include the exact amount, date and so on in your goals so that you can measure degree of your success. Without remembering how to measure your success, you miss the celebration that comes with knowing that you have actually gain something.
- Achievable – Ensure that it is possible to achieve the goals you have set. If you set a goal that you have no hope of achieving, you will only lower your morale.
- Realistic – Goals should be relevant to the direction, you want to take your life and career.
- Time-limited – Your goals should have a time limit. Again, this means that you know the time, when you can celebrate success. When you are working on a deadline, your urgency increases and achievement will come very quickly.
2. Write your goals:-
Writing goals in a daily planner or even sticky notes helps to focus your attention on them and makes them more hands-on. Writing down your goals also forces you to take action, especially when you read yourself aloud every day. They provide a benchmark that allows you to check in with your progress so that you know how far ahead you have to go to get the desired results.
3. Make a small start:-
When it comes to setting goals, you need to start small tasks. When we see the big picture, our goals can feel unattainable or difficult to achieve, which is why we need to celebrate the small milestones that we create on a daily basis.
4. Focus on goals every day:-
Focusing on our goals daily helps us succeed in reaching them because it is a constant reminder of what we want in life.
5. Be consistent:-
Being consistent means that you are committed to taking action for a long term. This means that you are ready to go all in and are fully dedicated to achieving your goals. Consistency comes down to repetition.
Working towards your goal every day, it will be easier for your brain to turn that behavior into a habit. This is why I am such a big fan of morning rituals, as they help you to get forward towards your goals by conditioning your mindset for success every day.
If you want to succeed, you need to give up the excuses. Stop telling yourself that you do not have time to achieve your goals. It is time to make time for the things that are most important to you.
"Winners must have two things; definite goals and a great desire to achieve them."
